Ingredients
For the Sesame Ladoo
- 1 cup white sesame seeds (til)
- ¾ cup Sarbu Jaggery Powder
- 1 tbsp water
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp roasted peanuts, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tbsp grated dry coconut (optional)
For Greasing
- ½ tsp ghee
Instructions
Step 1: Roast the Sesame Seeds
- Heat a heavy-bottomed pan over low to medium heat.
- Add 1 cup sesame seeds.
- Dry roast for 4–5 minutes, stirring continuously.
- Roast until the sesame seeds become lightly golden and start releasing a pleasant nutty aroma.
- Do not over-roast or brown the sesame seeds, as they can turn bitter.
- Transfer to a plate and allow them to cool slightly.
Step 2: Prepare the Jaggery Syrup
- Add ¾ cup Sarbu Jaggery Powder and 1 tbsp water to the same pan.
- Heat on low flame, stirring until the jaggery powder melts completely.
- Cook until the mixture reaches a soft, sticky consistency.
- To check, take a small drop of the syrup and place it in a bowl of cold water. It should form a soft, pliable ball when pressed between your fingers.
Step 3: Add the Sesame Seeds
- Lower the flame completely.
- Add the roasted sesame seeds to the jaggery syrup.
- Add cardamom powder and optional roasted peanuts or dry coconut.
- Mix quickly and thoroughly until the sesame seeds are evenly coated with jaggery.
Step 4: Shape the Ladoos
- Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool for 2–3 minutes, just until it is comfortable enough to handle.
- Lightly grease your palms with ghee.
- Take a small portion of the warm mixture and press it firmly between your palms.
- Roll it into a smooth, round ladoo.
- Repeat with the remaining mixture.
Step 5: Cool & Set
- Place the prepared ladoos on a greased plate.
- Allow them to cool completely at room temperature.
- Once firm, transfer them to an airtight container.

Why Use Sarbu Jaggery Powder?
Sarbu Jaggery Powder provides a rich, naturally sweet flavor that pairs beautifully with the nutty taste of roasted sesame seeds. Its fine texture melts easily, helping create a smooth jaggery coating that binds the sesame seeds together into delicious, traditional ladoos.
Chef’s Tips
- Always roast sesame seeds on low to medium heat to prevent them from burning.
- Don’t over-roast the sesame seeds, as they can develop a bitter taste.
- The jaggery syrup consistency is important—if undercooked, the ladoos may not hold their shape; if overcooked, they can become hard.
- Shape the ladoos while the mixture is warm, as it becomes difficult to roll once completely cool.
- Grease your palms lightly with ghee to prevent the mixture from sticking.
- For extra crunch, add roasted peanuts or chopped almonds.
- For a softer ladoo, use slightly less jaggery syrup cooking time.
- Store completely cooled ladoos in an airtight container at room temperature.
